The wait is almost over because All Creatures Great and Small the fourth series will debut with its premiere episode on Thursday 5 October at 9pm on Channel 5. Fans can expect six new episodes; moreover, there will be a Christmas special at the end of the year.

Who stars in the fourth series of All Creatures Great and Small?

Fans can rest assured that many of their favorite actors are returning for new episodes. Nicholas Ralph returned as James Herriot, Rachel Shenton returned to play his wife, Helen, and Samuel West returned as Siegfried Farnon.

However, one main character, Tristan Farnon, will not be returning after being recruited to fight in the war. Fans were devastated to learn that Callum Woodhouse would not be returning to reprise his role. One person wrote on social media: “Tristan/Callum is part of the magic, please do whatever it takes to bring him back.”

Another echoed this, writing: “Honestly, I’m not too excited about Callum Woodhouse’s departure as Tristan. He was brilliant playing such an important and beloved character in the books and show. Disappointed.” Meanwhile, a third posted: “I miss Tristan, I’m already hoping to see him again for Christmas. Please grant us our Christmas wish. I’m looking forward to it [new series].”

What can fans expect from the new All Creatures Great and Small series?

The fourth series promises plenty of brilliant stories. The synopsis reads: “James and Helen wonder when the time might be right to start a family, not knowing if James will be called up to serve in the RAF.

“Tristan’s absence is felt by everyone, but none more so than Siegfried, who is trying to keep the growing household and himself together while grappling with this new world. Mrs. Hall and Helena’s friendship blossoms as they look to the future and a new vet student. Richard Carmody arrives, causing complications in the house .”

What does the future hold after the fourth series of All Creatures Great and Small?
