Allison Holker Boss opens up to PEOPLE about her new home — and the fresh start it provides for her family.

Dancer and TV host tells PEOPLE that her new home “just feels like a breath of fresh air” a year after losing her husband, who died by suicide in December 2022 at the age of 40.

“We recently moved and it was a great move for my whole family,” says Holker Boss, 35, as she discusses the new children’s book she wrote with her late husband, Keep Dancing Through: A Boss Family Groove. “It has such a great energy and everyone just feels like they can breathe here. It’s beautiful, it seems that we are also the new us, a new version of who we are.”

She adds that her “children are happy” and that “the house is completely finished”.

Holker Boss tells PEOPLE that her favorite thing about her new home is the smell. “I’m religious about the scent of my house and every day at 5:00 p.m. I do an order, almost like you get in hotels,” says the mother of three. “The lighting changes, the mood, the candles, everything has a big moment and turns into our nightly events. So I love that.”

She’s “obsessed with Le Lab” for her candles, she says, and usually chooses Santal on the main level of the home and Palo Santo in her master suite. “Yeah, I’ve always been a smelly girl and then when I moved here, I was like, ‘Okay, what does this house smell like?’ That was a big deal for me.”

In November, Holker Boss sold the family home in Los Angeles that she shared with her late husband and their three children. According to property records, the home sold for $3.525 million after originally being listed for sale in October 2023 for $3.795 million.
