The Shropshire-born actor grew up playing football and roller-skating in the park with his friends in Shrewsbury. He attended St Giles C of E Primary School in South Mimms, England. At the age of ten, he moved to London to live with his sister Moya Wilson after playing the role of Simba in the musical The Lion King (2015). He later went on to study filmmaking courses.

My mum is Sudanese and my dad is British. I understand Arabic more often than I speak it. Apparently I really hated myself for refusing to learn Arabic as a kid. I wish I could speak both languages fluently. ”
In 2018, his father, Paul Wilson, died of a heart attack caused by undiagnosed asymptomatic coronary heart disease. His mother’s name is Nagra Wilson. He has two sisters, Moya Wilson and Iman Wilson.

Amir Wilson began his career as a theatre artist at the age of eight when he accompanied his sister to an audition for the role of the Munchkins in the play The Wizard of Oz (2012) organized by the local theatre group Get Your Wiggle On (GYWO). Speaking about the beginning of his acting career in an interview, he said,
One of the teaching assistants at my school said, “Kids, do any of you want to play the Munchkin in the local production of The Wizard of Oz?” I said, no, I didn’t want to do that, but I gave the flyer to my sister. We went to the audition that weekend… I ended up going, I got in, and I stayed with the company for two years.”
In 2014, he played Mr. Mayor in the play Dr. Seuss (2014) at the Severn Theatre in Shrewsbury. In the play, Mr. and Mrs. Mayor are Jojo’s parents, who have difficulties raising this troubled child.
Later, he played the role of Chip in GYWO’s theatre production of Beauty and the Beast. In the play, Chip is a seven-year-old boy who is transformed into a teacup after being cast a spell by a witch. In GYWO’s 2014 production of Oliver Twist, Aamir played the role of Dodger, but his name was removed from the play after he was offered the role of Simba in the musical The Lion King. In 2015, he received great praise for playing the younger version of the main character Simba in the 2015 musical The Lion King. The play was staged at the Lyceum Theatre in London and was based on the 1994 Walt Disney Animation Studios feature film of the same name. According to the storyline, Simba is the son of Mufasa and Sarabi, destined to become the king of the Pride Lands.
Another of his notable theatre productions is The Secret Diary of Adrian Moore, 13 ¾ Year Old (2017), in which he played the role of Nigel. The play revolves around a teenager named Adrian who witnesses an eventful year during which his parents’ marriage hits rock bottom and the girl of his dreams, Pandora, joins his school. In the play, Nigel is Adrian’s best friend, they attend the same high school and youth club, and even date the same girl, Pandora. As the play progresses, Nigel turns out to be gay.

He played Josh in his short film debut, Special Delivery (2018), in which penniless college student Dan meets street-smart 13-year-old Josh while on a covert cocaine delivery.

In 2019, he made his film debut with a brief appearance in the fantasy action-adventure film, The King’s Kid.
He plays Dickon in the 2020 British fantasy drama film The Secret Garden. The protagonist Mary Lennox is an orphan girl who is sent to live with her uncle in England, where she discovers a hidden magic garden. In the film, Dickon is a kindhearted 12-year-old boy who spends most of his time on the moors. In the story, Dickon helps Mary rescue an injured dog and her uncle’s bedridden son in the magic garden.
He later played Anton Milanesi in the 2022 German musical film The Magic Flute. The film tells the story of 17-year-old boy Tim Walker who discovers a centuries-old forgotten passage to a fantasy world.

In 2019, he made his television debut in the fantasy series His Dark Materials trilogy, playing the lead character Will Parry. The series is set in a multi-world reality, where a girl named Lyra is destined to change the world, in line with a prophecy. The witches’ prophecy also establishes a connection between Lyra and Will, a teenager from another world whose father disappeared thirteen years ago. Aamir’s Will Parry became a key character in the second season of the series and gained great popularity.
OTT/Network Series
Amir Wilson made his digital debut in the coming-of-age adventure series A Letter to the King, in which he played the lead character Tiuri. In the series, a young page named Tiuri takes on the responsibility of delivering a secret message to the king across the mountains. Amir was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award (2021) for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Daytime Fictional Program.
