Amit Ravindernath Sharma is a film director and advertising filmmaker. He is best known for directing Badhaai Ho, one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2018.

After completing his studies, he contacted director Pradeep Sarkar through a friend of his mother. He shared the entire incident in an interview, saying:
I managed to get in touch with Pradeep Sarkar, who is also producing Freelance Films. Ten days later, I received a call saying come to this studio. If you have a girlfriend, bring her with you. I’d never had a girlfriend, so I got there and on the road outside the studio, two girls passed by and I asked them, “Do you want to act?” They both looked alike. I said, “Come with me.” I took them both inside. “
He landed a role as a junior artist in a Limca TV commercial. Later, he met Pradeep Sarkar and was selected as the lead actor in a commercial shot in Manali. He said in an interview,
It took me 18 hours to reach Manali but my shoot was over in just 2 hours. It was October 9th, my mother’s birthday, and I faced the camera for the first time. I didn’t want to go back, so I told my dad, “I want to stay and work with you.” He allowed me to stay, and I kept in touch with him during school, and then I joined him. “
Amit worked with Pradeep for nearly six years. He moved to Mumbai from Delhi in 2001 along with Pradeep Sarkar. He worked with Amit for two years, and in 2003, Amit met his girlfriend (now wife) Aleya Sen Sharma and childhood friend Hemant Bhandari ) founded his own production company “Chrome Pictures”.

Between 2005 and 2015, he directed more than 900 commercials for Amazon, Procter & Gamble, Visa Debit, Lifebuoy, Cadbury, Honda, HUL, Nestlé, Sony, Samsung and Tata Sky, among others. In 2011, he won an award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for directing “Silent Anthem,” which featured deaf children performing “Jana Gana Mana” in sign language.
In 2013, he won the Gold Award at the Spikes Asia Awards for his Lifebuoy campaign; focusing on hygiene in Indian villages. In November 2013, he released another TV ad, “Google Reunion”; depicting a fictional story based on the Partition of India.
