Amruta met Indian TV actor Himmanshoo Malhotra on the TV reality show India’s Best Film Star Ki Khoj (2004), where they were both contestants. They became friends and dated for nearly 10 years. During their relationship, they broke up once and there were rumors that Amruta was dating a music director. Later, they got back together and got married on January 24, 2015 in Delhi.

Amruta was a contestant in the talent show India’s Best Film Star Ki Khoj (2004) aired on Zee TV. In 2005, she acted in the Hindi television series Ada and Time Bomb 9/11. In 2006, she made her film debut in the Marathi film Golmaal, in which she played a dual role.
She is one of the popular Marathi film actresses and has acted in many Marathi films like ‘Zhakaas’ (2011), ‘Satrangi Re’ (2012), ‘Welcome Zindagi’ (2015), ‘Ani Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar’ (2018) and ‘Choricha Mamla’ (2020).
Apart from television serials and Marathi films, she has also acted in Bollywood films. In 2007, she made her Bollywood debut in the film Bombay Salsa.
