Configure POP, IMAP, and SMTP settings to sync your AOL email account to Outlook
AOL allows you to use a third-party email application to download a copy of your email messages, as well as to send or receive email. When setting up your AOL account in a third-party email application, such as Outlook, you’ll be asked to select one of two different protocols, for example, POP3 or IMAP. These server settings must be entered to set up or add AOL mail to Outlook, and entering incorrect settings can cause problems logging into AOL.
These are the POP and IMAP server settings required to configure AOL in Outlook:
Protocol | server configuration | connection settings |
POP 3 | Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.aol.com | POP3-995-SSL |
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.aol.com | SMTP-465-SSL | |
IMAP | Incoming mail server (IMAP): imap.aol.com | IMAP-993-SSL |
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.aol.com | SMTP-465-SSL |
