Anabel Gutierrez A Mexican Actress Passed Away At The Age Of 90

Anabel Gutierrez, Mexican actress, died on August 21 at the age of 90. Her nephew, Jose Luis Arevalo, broke the news on Twitter, writing,

“My dear aunt Anabel Gutierrez died late Sunday night, six hours after saying goodbye and receiving her blessing.” RIP… I will never forget you!”

Gutierrez rose to prominence in the comedy program Chespirito as Chimoltrufia’s mother, Dona Espotaverderona. The cause of Annabel’s death is unclear, and no further information about her funeral has been released.

Anabel Gutierrez’s career in the entertainment industry

Anabel Gutierrez, born September 5, 1931, remains obscure about her educational history. In 1949, she was an extra in two films: El Diablo no es Tan Diablo and La Liga de las Muchachas. She eventually landed prominent roles in other films beginning with the 1951 Mexican drama, Deseada. The main characters in the film were played by Dolores del Rio, Jorge Mistral, Jose Baviera, Arturo Soto Rangel, Enriqueta Reza, Hector Herrera, Wibeut Puerta, Don Chinto, Rosario Gutierrez, E. Puga and Nicolas Urcelay. The film received five Ariel Award nominations, including one for Outstanding Musical Composition.

She then starred in Azahares para tu boda with Fernando Soler, Marga Lopez, Sara Garcia and Joaquin Pardave. She later became famous in the Mexican film business, earning praise for her roles in Muchchas de uniforme, Rostros olvidados, and Escuela de vagabundos.

In 1956, she won the Ariel Award for Best Youth Actress for her performance in Escuela de vagabundos.
