Subsequently, he received the 1992 Cambridge Nehru Centenary Scholarship (scholarship) to study at the University of Cambridge in England. He received a BA (Tripos) in Natural Sciences from Pembroke College, Cambridge, in 1994, and a PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1998. in biochemistry. After graduating from Cambridge University, Anand Ranganathan returned to India and joined the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Delhi and worked in the laboratory as a Research Scientist. He has been working in the laboratory for approximately 16 years. In 2015, he started working as an Associate Professor at the Special Center for Molecular Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. In 2019, he was appointed as a full-time professor at Jinan University. Anand Ranganathan’s research work focuses on directed evolution and pathogenesis, particularly tuberculosis and malaria. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed research papers in journals such as the Journal of Biochemistry, Journal of Chemistry and Biology, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Nature Communications.

This book tells the story of how a seventeen-year-old prince in India’s golden age took the fate of the world on his shoulders. In 2015, “For Love and Honor” was published. The book tells the story of Captain Akhil Mehra as he seeks solace at the Carrington tea estate owned by Rai Bahadur, where he meets a group of people including Rai Bahadur’s daughter. A series of interesting characters, which leads to a series of life-changing events.
He co-authored “Rat Eaters” with Chitra Subramaniam, published in 2019. This book tells the truth about caste system, corruption and cruelty in India. His 2023 book Soufflé is a fictional murder mystery novel. According to Anand Ranganathan, actress Raveena Tandon was the inspiration for the book.

Anand Ranganathan has also written The Hindu Rashtra (Eight Class Citizens and Victims of State-Sanctioned Apartheid), published in 2023. The book questions the idea of India as a Hindu-majority country, pointing out instances of discrimination and discrimination faced by Hindus. injustice, challenging the country’s generally accepted concept of secularism. In December 2022, Dr. Anand Ranganathan refused to apologize for supporting filmmakers Vivek Agnihotri and S. Gurumurthy, who criticized Justice S. Muralidhar Bail was granted to Urban Naxal Gautam Navlakha. Ranganathan, who is involved in the contempt case against Gurumurthy and Agnihotri, issued a statement saying he had done nothing wrong and would not apologize. He explained that he supports them because he values free speech and opposes contempt of court charges. Earlier, Gurumurthy, in a blog post shared by Agnihotri on Twitter, had accused Justice Muralidhar of bias, leading to the contempt notice. Ranganathan also criticized it, with Twitter withholding two of his tweets criticizing the contempt notice. Anand and his lawyer (J Sai Deepak) confirmed that they will participate in contempt proceedings. In May 2023, the Delhi High Court granted Ranganath four weeks to file the affidavit.
