Andrew Scott Zimmern was born on July 4, 1961, making him the youngest of the Zimmern brothers. In the United States, he was born in New York. He is now 62 years old and a citizen of the United States of America. Likewise, he is a devout Christian born under the zodiac sign of Cancer.
He was born to Robert Zimmern, his father, and Caren Zimmern, his mother, through their marriage. He was raised in a Jewish family. His fathers took him to James Beard’s Christmas and Sunday open houses as a boy, where Beard’s generosity inspired him.
He began formal culinary training at the age of 14. He attended Dalton School and then transferred to Vassar College in New York. On HGTV’s Rebecca’s Garden and Typical Mary Ellen, Zimmern was a regular contributor, doing on-air food work for both shows and reporting on food for Fox TV station KMSP.
In 1997, he worked as a food and leisure correspondent for UPN’s national television channel Everyday Living. Some notable charity events, food festivals and galas invited him to cook as chef in residence. He also appeared in the Cooking Club of America’s how-to video series. On November 1, 2006, the Travel Channel aired the pilot episode of Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre Food. Zimmern has traveled to more than a dozen countries and states as part of the show. When it comes to CableFax awards, no one has done it better than Andrew’s Bizarre Foods in the Kitchen. It took home two trophies: one for Best Television Program: Food and the other for Best Online Extras.
The Bizarre Foods spin-off Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World premiered in 2009. The pilot and nine episodes were produced in eight countries and two states. In 2007, Zimmern appeared on an episode of No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain from New York, while Bourdain did the same on Bizarre Foods with Zimmern.
