Andy Cohen spills the tea about what it’s like working with longtime friend and colleague Anderson Cooper.
Ahead of SiriusXM’s 10th Annual Andy Holiday Hangout on Radio (which he co-hosts with Amy Sedaris) in New York City on Dec. 19, Cohen, 56, spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about his love of radio, his upcoming vacation plans and the “most boring” part of hosting CNN New Year’s Eve live with Cooper, 57.
“Good, [it’s] that I have to be a straight guy”, revealed the leader of Bravo. “Literally, he’s in a puddle of giggles for the last 90 minutes of the broadcast, and I’m the one doing all the commercial breaks.”
“For the last 90 minutes, I turn into Mr. CNN, and he turns into Mr. Bravo,” he added. “It’s a very funny role reversal.”

The comment came after Cooper recently revealed his biggest pet peeve about hosting the New Year’s Eve show during an appearance on Cohen’s Bravo series Watch what’s happening live.
“Who is he just going to offend and what a 3 a.m. aisle cleanup he’s going to be,” Cooper, 57, said during the Dec. 16 episode.
Cooper’s comment — though he said it in a light-hearted way — likely refers to a 2021 incident in which Cohen claims he was served too much alcohol during a live event, prompting him to insult a rival ABC New Year’s Eve show hosted by Ryan Seacrest. Cohen called Seacrest’s show “a bunch of losers,” which landed him in hot water the next day.

Speaking about the incident a few days later The Howard Stern ShowCohen admitted he regrets his actions. “I really like Ryan Seacrest and he’s a great guy and I really regret saying that and I was just stupid and drunk and I felt it,” he told Stern.
This will mark the eighth year in a row that Cohen and Cooper will host the CNN special, and viewers have come to expect — and enjoy — watching the old friends square off. Fans especially love watching the usually buttoned-up Cooper let loose.
Cohen and Cooper have been friends for more than two decades, and first connected when a mutual friend tried to set them up. Although the date never materialized (Cooper called it off after a phone call with Cohen), the pair reconnected a few years later and became platonic friends.

Now the couple has bonded over paternity. Cohen is father to Benjamin, five, and Lucy, two, while Cooper has sons Wyatt, four, and Sebastian, two, with ex-partner Benjamin Maisani.
“We’re these geriatric patients limping around chasing our kids, but look, it’s another bonding thing,” Cohen said on a December 2022 episode of his show. A table for two podcast. He also said he is “so glad” his children will be able to spend time with other children who come from a two-father home.
