Angela Jacobs Passed Away Due To Metastatic Breast Cancer

Angela Jacobs, anchor and reporter for WFTV died on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Her co-workers at WFTV confirmed the story. On social media, host Nancy Alvarez paid tribute to Jacobs, writing,

“She fought a strong, dignified battle against breast cancer, often hiding the painful times behind her beautiful, brilliant smile.”

Shannon Butler, Angela’s colleague and friend, claimed that she was devoted to her family and friends. Butler went on to say that Jacobs only talked about her illness to help others and to focus on her life because she wanted to live it to the fullest.

All about Angela Jacobs

According to her WFTV bio, Angela Jacobs just graduated from the University of South Carolina. After that, she received her master’s degree from the University of Missouri. She was involved in athletics and enjoyed traveling. Jacobs began her career as a journalist at Fox Sports in 2008, where she was a reporter for the Florida Rays and Lighting coverage. She received two regional Emmys and several other honors for her sports reporting work at WSTP in Tampa Bay over a nine-year period.


In 2013, she began working for WFTV as a general assignment reporter for Eyewitness News. She became famous after she published the story of a lady who sued the hospital, alleging that she had been abused as a patient. In 2015, Jacobs presented a story about a lady being stalked by her ex-boyfriend, and the stalker was eventually arrested. The episode also prompted regional politicians to investigate the state of online stalking in Florida.

Breast cancer

Angela revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in 2020. She admitted that she had 56 treatments in five weeks, as well as four procedures, which resulted in significant hair loss. She partially recovered after a two-year struggle. However, in 2020 she was diagnosed with cancer again and received chemotherapy as well as experimental therapies.

Along with Vanessa Echols and Nancy Alvarez, she was an advocate for breast cancer survivors. In 2021, she co-hosted a 30-minute episode called Hope and Healing on WFTV, recounting her battle with cancer in 2020. Jacobs’ mother is a breast cancer survivor. Despite her celebrity, Angela did not have a Wikipedia page, so more information is unknown. Her age at the time of death is unclear, but she was probably between 40 and 50 years old.
