With its global gross, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark. Since its release on December 1, the Bollywood film has maintained a solid presence at the box office. The film, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor, was released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam on 1 December. In terms of its seventh day earnings, the report states that the film has grossed ₹ 25.50 crore nett in India, taking its total earnings to ₹ 313.35 crore in India. The report also stated that the overall occupancy rates for the film were 20.64 percent in Tamil, 23.43 percent in Telugu and 30.43 percent in Hindi.
Animal is expected to become Ranbir’s most financially successful film at the box office with its earnings. Although Ranbir Kapoor’s performance is considered by many to be the best in the film, the film has been criticized for its brutality, toxic masculinity and misogyny. The audience also praised Bobby Deol, who plays the sinister and mute character from the movie Abrara. Ranjeet Ranjan, a member of the Congress Rajya Sabha, expressed his displeasure with the film and raised issues with the song “Arjan Vailly”. Arjan Vailly, she said, was a well-known figure in Sikh history. He is known for his bravery and courage. He was the son of the 19th century Sikh military commander Hari Singh Nalwa.
Ranjan felt it was disrespectful that the song was used in the film to highlight the gang conflict. She also expressed concern over the approval of these films by the Central Board of Film Certification, which she feels is a disease of our culture. The CBFC awarded the all-Indian film an A certificate before its release. The film “Animal” presents a violent universe against the backdrop of the strained relationship between Anil Kapoor’s character Ranbir Singh and his real-life father Ranvijay Singh. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series, Cine1 Studios (Murad Khetani) and Bhadrakali Pictures (Pranay Reddy Vanga).
