Anish Bhanwala started competing in the modern pentathlon championships and represented the country at the U-12 Modern Pentathlon World Championships (2013) and the Asian Modern Pentathlon Championships (2015), after which he won the 5th place in the pentathlon. Shooting was chosen among the projects. Anish started shooting at the age of twelve and received professional training under the guidance of DSP Harpreet Singh. When Anish joined the Indian shooting national team in 2017, he received guidance from the Indian team’s foreign coach Pavel Smirnov. He won two gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup Championships in Suhl, Germany (2017). In 2018, he set a new Commonwealth Games final record with 30 hits and became the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
In 2019, Anish won gold, silver and bronze medals at the ISSF Youth World Cup in Sur, Germany. In 2022, he won the silver medal at the World Championships in Cairo with 581 points. Anish Bhanwala then represented India at the 19th Asian Games (2022) in Hangzhou, China in 2023. He won a bronze medal in shooting in the men’s 25 m pistol rapid fire team event along with teammates Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh.
The Indian men’s trio finished third with 1718 points, China won the gold medal with 1765 points and South Korea won the silver medal with 1734 points.
