Anjana Mumtaz was born on Saturday, January 4, 1941, in Mumbai, India (age 83 years 2024). Anjana didn’t like studying at all, but she still managed to pass her tenth exam, which was considered an achievement in the 1960s. She loved movies, which is why her mother invested in her dance instructor and hired a skilled teacher named Mangal Master. Later, she also learned classical Kathak dance from Sir Gopi Krishan.

Profession
Anjana Mumtaz is a huge fan of Meena Kumari. In 1965, she learned that her favorite actress was filming “Pakeezah” at Filmistan Studios. Excited Anjana went to meet Meena Kumari and she welcomed her fans with a warm smile. She also introduced Anjana to Kamal Sahab, who decided to cast her in his film Shankar Hussain, but the film’s release was delayed. At the same time, she signed a contract with producer S. Mukherjee for the film “Sumbundh” and had her first leading role in 1969. The film was a huge hit and marked the beginning of her film journey. Since then, she has signed many blockbusters with famous actors such as Dharmendra, Mehmood, Sanjeev Kumar, Joy Mukherjee, etc. She has since acted in several Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi films. After giving birth, she took a break from film work and soon returned to work, playing supporting roles in films.
