In 2007, Ankita participated in the Under-14 Asia Tennis Series. During these series, she participated in various tournaments in India and Asia and won the series. Later, Ankita was selected among the top eight tennis players in Asia after winning the Asia Under-14 Tennis Series. Shortly after this achievement, she was given the opportunity to compete at Melbourne Park, home of the Australian Open, where she defeated her Korean opponent in the final. Ankita started her professional tennis career in 2009 at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Championships in Mumbai. Until the end of 2010, she continued to compete in local ITF events and tournaments, but achieved limited success. Ankita defeated her opponent, world number four tennis player Samantha Stosur at the 2011 US Open. After winning the match, Ankita said in an interview:

In 2011, Ankita won three ITF Tour doubles finals with her partner Aishwarya Agrawal. In 2012, Ankita Raina won her first professional singles match in New Delhi. In the same year, Ankita successfully won three more doubles matches in New Delhi. Ankita’s performance in the ITF Tour Championship for the next few years was mediocre. Then, in 2017, Ankita won two career quarter-finals at the Mumbai Open. Ankita Raina moved up to No. 181 in the women’s singles world rankings after winning the $25,000 Mumbai Open. She is ranked fifth in India, behind famous Indian women’s tennis players Nirupama Sanjiv, Sania Mirza, Shikha Uberoi and Sunita Rao. Ankita participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, and won the bronze medal in the singles championship. Ankita is believed to be the second Indian woman after Sania Mirza to win a WTA-level singles title at the Asian Games. In the same year, Ankita won the doubles championship at the 2018 OEC Taipei WTA Challenge with Karman Kaur Tandy.
