Anna Kendrick Says Reuniting with Blake Lively for 'Risky' A Simple Favor 2 Felt 'Like Riding a Bike' (Exclusive)

It’s time to break out real martini: Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively will soon return to the screen together Simple service 2.

Talking to PEOPLE about his directorial debut Woman of the hourKendrick, 39, teased the upcoming sequel to her 2018 hit, about widowed mother Stephanie (Kendrick) who investigates the disappearance of her glamorous new friend Emily (Lively).

Kendrick said it was “wonderful” to reunite with her co-star for the sequel to the film – also directed by Paul Feig – which was shot in Europe earlier this year.

“She lives on the East Coast, I live on the West Coast, so we don’t see each other very often,” Kendrick says of Lively, 37. “But it’s been nice and I think these characters have such a weird chemistry that it’s so fun to just get the gang together. And I feel a bit like I’m riding a bike.”

Asked about plot details, Kendrick is coy. “I have to call Paul Feig and say, ‘What can I talk about?’ “We shot it in Italy, so the locations are just amazing. And I felt spoiled, spoiled shooting there,” she says.

“And I will say after I shot the first one, I was totally like, ‘This is the craziest movie I’ve ever been a part of.’ I think it’s really fascinating that Paul Feig is the guy he’s arguably best known for bridesmaids, and the darkness and madness that’s in his brain, it’s impressive,” she continues. “You say, ‘Oh, my God.’ ”

“So the second movie is crazy. I know I’m going to say that, like, ‘Oh, she’s crazier than the last one,’ but girl, that’s a lot,” Kendrick says.

“It’s one of those things where on paper you say, ‘This is absolutely crazy. What are we doing?’ And then suddenly Paul appears in a three piece suit and Blake is there and even [director of photography] came back and I felt like, ‘Okay, we’re doing this very weird kind of risky, very twisty, plot-heavy movie.’ ”

The cast filmed in Rome as well as Capri, where Kendrick says Feig was treated like royalty.

Feig, she says, “is so classy that he has this specific hotel that he loves and that we shot in, so he’s like the King of Capri. Everywhere we went, people were like, ‘Paulino.’ I said, ‘Oh my God, are you the mayor or something? What’s going on?’ ”

Kendrick had a similar moment when she was chosen to direct Woman of the hourher new Netflix true crime drama.

“I was involved as an actor and I really liked the script. Then this opportunity arose [to direct]and I threw my hat in the ring,” she says.

The film is about Rodney Alcala, a serial killer and rapist who appeared in one episode Dating game 1978 and charmed contestant Cheryl Bradshaw (Kendrick) into choosing him over two other bachelors.

“It’s obviously a very tense, scary, fascinating story, but it had so much beauty and emotion,” says Kendrick.

Woman of the hour it’s in select theaters now, then on Netflix on October 18th.
