Anna Polyviou News
Delicious American Express. The end of the month is coming soon, and with it comes an evening gathering hosted by one of the world’s biggest dessert stars.
Award-winning pastry chef Anna Polyviou will host a special Hellenic High Tea at The Langham in Sydney on Sunday 7th May. But on this particular day, Anna’s mother, Eugina Polyviou, will join her and her extraordinary team as a special visitor.
The daily meal is a mix of sweet and savory delights along with afternoon tea that celebrates Greek flavor and Anna’s proud Greek heritage. Thanks to the cooperation of Anna’s mother, who also shares her love of cooking and baking, the extensive menu of small bites evokes the warmth of family cooking and baking at its best.
The mother-daughter team will make the most of the outdoor cooking stations in the dining room, as everything will be homemade and artisanal. Slow-roasted lamb will be grilled on the premises, while Eugina will show how to make fresh haloumi and roll and bake fresh spanakopita.
At this meal, Polyviou promises, “you’ll taste the best of both worlds of sweet and savory Greek cuisine, with Anna Polyviou’s touch.” Other specialties of the day will be the traditional keftedes roll, crab with salmon roe and tarama tart. Not to mention the lamb patty, tzatziki with gherkins, spanakopiti patty, and many other dishes to come. It’s safe to assume that guests won’t go home hungry.
“You’ll find fresh taramasalata made by my mother, coupes made according to an old family recipe, and spanakopita with freshly made rolls so thin and full of flavour,” Anna explains of the planned meal. Since desserts are Anna’s area of expertise, there will be no shortage of sweet options throughout the day. These include the decadent galaktoboureko dessert made with semolina cream, creamy rice pudding topped with salted caramel sauce and cinnamon loukoumades, and coffee-flavored Greek macarons.
