“Hello, Harvard University conducted a 24-hour sociological survey on the spread of misinformation on the Internet called ‘Anne Hathaway is a cannibal.’ We have completed our research. Thank you for your consideration.”
It should be emphasized that Harvard University has not provided any information regarding this alleged research or any suggestion regarding Anne Hathaway’s connection to cannibalism. Surprisingly, when the tweet went viral over the weekend, the original individual who shared such self-proclaimed falsehoods canceled their account.
Furthermore, it is impossible to assume that Harvard University would conduct research on the deliberate distribution of defamatory material about a celebrity. It also raises legal difficulties, because if Harvard does indeed conduct such research on a celebrity, the famous individual could sue for such efforts. Additionally, Anne Hathaway’s Los Angeles home was featured in a 2019 Architectural Digest story. This shows that the claim that Hathaway’s home was sold in 2013 was false.
