Annie began her literary career in 1974 with the autobiographical novel Les Armoires vides. In 1984, Annie won the Renaudot Prize (a French literary prize) for another of her autobiographical works, La Place (The Place of Man). It was an autobiographical narrative focused on her relationship with her father and Annie’s experiences growing up in a small town in France, and her process of coming of age and away from her parents’ place of origin.
