Anusha Rao is an Indian filmmaker, known for creating and directing the Telugu short film Swarna, which was released at the 2022 Screened at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF).

Film Production
Anusha started her career as a film producer in February 2011 by joining 84ideas in Hyderabad as a marketing intern. In August 2012, she volunteered at TEDx in Hyderabad. In October 2012, she worked as a volunteer at VOICE 4 Girls in Hyderabad. In 2014, she got an opportunity to work as a Marketing Strategist at Arka Media Works (P) Ltd, Hyderabad, where she worked on the marketing and international distribution team of the film Baahubali: The Beginning (2015).
In 2018, she went to Los Angeles to serve as screenwriter and director for the movie “Left Behind.”
She rejoined Arka Mediaworks P Ltd in December 2018 and started working as Script Supervisor. In 2020, she wrote a Telugu fictional story based on the life of a rapist’s family. It is a twenty-nine-minute film produced by filmmaker Venkatesh Maha. The film was recognized when it was screened at the 2022 New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) held from May 7 to 13. The actors in the film are not professionals. The shooting of the film took place in Nizamabad, where she faced difficulties speaking the Telangana rural dialect.

People in Nizamabad understood why we wanted silence on the sets. In the second half of the film, there is a lot of silence as the family discusses issues that deeply affect them. In the silence, we could even hear the sound of milk boiling in the house. Sound designer Nagarjun Thalapalli (who has worked on films such as Care of Kancharapalem) was pleased with the quality of synchronized sound we managed to achieve. “
