Appurv Gupta is an Indian stand-up comedian, YouTuber and entrepreneur who was nominated for the Forbes India Celebrity 100 in 2015. He is considered one of the pioneers of Hindi talk shows in India.

Profession
Right from the start of the course, Appurv realised that he did not want to pursue a career as an engineer, so he started looking for other career options. In an interview, he said:
In my first year, I realized that engineering was not for me, but I completed my studies anyway, just as my parents wanted me to.”
As he was exploring different careers, his brother suggested that he join a nonprofit public speaking organization called Toastmasters International, where people of all ages come together to teach and practice public speaking skills. Recalling his days in Toastmasters, he said:
I started performing in a Toastmasters club. Over the next three years, I did a lot of performances. Some people told me I was funny, and that encouraged me. I tried speaking. Then someone told me I should try stand-up comedy.”
While working with Toastmasters International, he performed around 1000 stage shows, opened clubs at different locations and held many leadership positions. Although Appurv received various job offers from top MNCs after graduation, he decided to venture into talk show industry. Later, he performed around 700 shows, including those for top IT companies like Microsoft, Adobe, American Express and Airtel. In 2014, he came into the limelight with his first solo show “AppurView-Laugh With an Engineer”, which was aired on NDTV Prime’s show “Appurv Gupta’s Rising Star of Comedy”.
Since then, he has been a part of many other one-man shows like “RelationShip Or RelationShit”, “Laugh with an Engineer 2.0”, “Kaafi Wild Hai” etc. On 15 January 2016, Appurv started the web series “Mudde Ki Baat”, in which he humorously expresses his views on topics like Indian startups, cricket, Bollywood and Chetan Bhagat.
In 2019, Apurv Gupta opened the Central Club at Akshara Theatre in New Delhi, which hosts both open mics and full-fledged performances. His YouTube channel has attracted more than 400,000 subscribers, who travel around India and abroad performing his slow-paced shows.
