Grande also just released her seventh studio album Eternal sunshine March 8. “I didn’t plan [make new music now]. I didn’t have a goal to make an album,” she said on The Zach Sang Show in February. “I was actually really against going out with music until later Wicked, or both parts or only one part. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel.” But she changed plans when the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes halted production on Wickedand headed to New York City, where she worked for a week with producer Max Martin.

“Everything kind of started pouring in and after our first week together I kept coming into the studio every day by myself, and it kind of organically kept happening like that, so I just decided to react and listen to it and I thought maybe if it’s coming out like this me,” she explained. “Perhaps it should be divided this way.” The singer released the first single from the album “Yes, And?” in January, a house-influenced track in which Grande addresses the discourse surrounding her looks, her divorce from Dalton Gomez and her current relationship with Wicked Costar Ethan Slater.
