Arjun’s first competition was the AP State (under-9) trials in 2011, where he finished second. In 2012, he won a gold medal at the National U-11 trials held in Rajahmundry. In 2016, he was awarded the title of Candidate Master by FIDE. In 2018, at the age of 14, he became the first Grandmaster from Telangana. In the same year, he won a silver medal at the World Youth Under-16 Chess Championship.

In March 2022, he won the 58th MPL National Senior Chess Championship 2022 in Kanpur and became the Indian national champion.
