Arjun started his career in 2015 under the guidance of coaches Joshi Parvez, Kumar Holinder and Jaspal Rana. In 2018, he won the team gold medal in the 10-meter air pistol event at the ISSF Youth World Cup in Sydney, Australia, winning honors for the school. He scored 575 points (out of 600 points) in the competition.

In 2021, in the 50m pistol event, Arjun Singh Cheema, Shaurya Sarin and Ajinkya Chavan scored a total of 549 points out of 600.

In 2022, Arjun Singh Cheema emerged victorious at the National Men’s 50m Pistol Trials held at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.

In 2023, the Indian team consisting of Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and Shiva Narwal won the gold medal in the 10-meter air pistol team event at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games. They only have one point more than the Chinese team. Sarabjot Singh scored the highest score in the Indian qualifiers with 580 runs and 18 bullseyes. Arjun Singh Cheema ranked eighth with 578 points and 19 bullseyes, while Shiva Narwal scored 576 points with 13 bullseyes and ranked 14th among the 56 shooters. In the individual final, Arjun Singh Cheema was eliminated first and finished eighth with a total score of 113.3 points.
