On July 23, 2022, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seized Arpita Rs. 21 crore, including gold jewelery worth Rs. 7.9 million rupees. She has 5.4 million foreign exchange and 22 mobile phones in her apartment. The ED also claimed she ran a dozen shell companies. ED said in a statement,

She was arrested over her association with TMC minister Partha Chatterjee, who was also arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 23, 2022, for his alleged involvement in the teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC). After their arrest, a photo of Partha Chatterjee and Arpita went viral on social media, in which they were seen attending an event wearing the same colored outfits.

Later, a photo of CM Mamata Banerjee with Arpita went viral on social media, after which the TMC was accused of being involved in the scam. In a tweet, Mamata addressed the allegations against her and said:
I go to the opening ceremonies of many pujas. How do I know who the organizer has invited? How do I know she is Pata’s friend? If my party members are at fault, I will not let them go. If my minister is found guilty, I will not and will not forgive him. “

On July 27, 2022, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted more raids and recovered another Rs 100. The agency seized cash worth Rs 28 crore from her Belghoria apartment in North 24-Parganas, West Bengal and also recovered 5 kg of gold from her residence. Thus, the total cash recovered from her place of residence was Rs. 500 million rupees.
