The injury occurred after Ramsey fell to the floor following a tackle from Martin Odegaard.

Ramsey appeared to get his foot stuck in the turf after the tackle and was then seen grimacing in pain as he clutched his knee.

The midfielder was then carried off the field while he was given oxygen.

The match was delayed for some time as medical staff from both teams treated the England U-20 star.

Ramsey was replaced by Jay Rodriguez.

On social media, many fans rushed to send Ramsey well wishes.

One fan said: “I hope he recovers quickly.”

Another said: “Hope it’s not serious .. really unlucky.”

A third added: “I’ll be shocked if it’s anything other than a torn knee ligament, twisted awkwardly trying to regain balance. Terrible injury.”

Another said: “So unfortunate for him.”

Ramsey signed for Burnley from Aston Villa this summer.

Including today’s performance, he has played 17 games in all competitions this season.
