Arya revealed in an interview that although she was delighted with the news of her sister’s arrival, her parents hid the news from her for a month, thinking she would be ashamed. Arya shared the news of her mother’s pregnancy via an Instagram post on February 11, 2023; while some congratulated her on welcoming her little sister, others mocked her and compared her mother’s pregnancy story to Paula Compare this to the Hollywood film Badhaai Ho (2018); the film starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta is based on the story of a middle-aged couple who are initially embarrassed when their son discovers that his mother is pregnant. One phone call changed my life. Last year, just days before I was due to go home for the holidays, I got a call from Appa. He looked restless. After a few minutes, he said, “Mom’s pregnant.” I didn’t know how to react…it’s not something you just hear your parents say when you’re 23. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. Amma is 47 years old. I know this sounds weird, but Amma was eight months old when Appa told me. In fact, when Amma found out on her own, she was already seven months old. When Appa told me the news, he said they kept it a secret because they didn’t know how I would react. A few days later, when I got home, I fell into my mother’s lap and started crying. I said, “Why would I be ashamed?” I’ve wanted this for a long time. Slowly, we started telling our family and friends. Some of the concerns are real, but some are just mocking. But we didn’t attract any attention. ”
