Asad Rauf is a Pakistani cricketer and former umpire who served as a member of the ICC’s Elite Umpires Panel from 2006 to 2013. He died of cardiac arrest on September 14, 2022, in Lahore.

Asad played domestic cricket for teams such as State Bank of Pakistan (1983-1991), Lahore (1983-84), Pakistan Railways (1981-1983) and University of Pakistan (1977-78). He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-spin bowler. He made his first-class cricket debut on 4 November 1977 in a match between University of Pakistan and Habib Bank Limited. His last appearance in a first-class match was on October 28, 1990, between the State Bank of Pakistan and the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation. His debut in the roster was on March 17, 1981 in a match between Pakistan Railways and Home Building Finance Corporation. His last first-class match was on October 2, 1991, against State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan National Shipping Lines.

Assad became a referee in 1998. In 2004, he became a member of the International Referee Panel. His first ODI match as an umpire was between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 2000. In 2005, he umpired the first Test match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. His first T20 match as an umpire was India’s match against Afghanistan in 2012. He officiated the last IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2013 in Hyderabad. In 2006, he was included in the elite panel of ICC referees in the United Arab Emirates. During his officiating career, he officiated 47 Tests, 98 One-Day Internationals and 23 Twenty20 Internationals.

Later, Assad said in an interview that he was not in a relationship with her and that their photos were taken after Lena claimed to be one of his fans. He further added that she did all this to gain fame. In the interview, he further stated,

I am 56 years old, happily married with two children, how could I agree to marry someone else at my age. I don’t know why she did this, but if she continues to defame me and cause pain to me and my family, I will take legal action against her. The accusations she made were ridiculous and she made up the story just to gain cheap publicity and fame. ”
