ASAP Rocky Is Charged With Felony Firearm Assault For A 2021 Shooting

ASAP Rocky has been charged with felony assault with a gun in connection with his alleged role in a shooting in 2021. According to LA District Attorney George Gascon, firing a gun in a public place is a crime that could have had catastrophic consequences for the target and others there. In addition, Gascony stated:

“After a thorough review of the evidence in this case, my office has determined that the inclusion of a specific firearms charge is warranted.”

Rocky’s arraignment is set for Aug. 17 in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, according to the LAPD.

Following the new allegations, there is no word on whether ASAP Rocky will be arrested. ASAP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, was arrested in April of this year at Los Angeles International Airport on charges of assault with a firearm. He was later released on $550,000 bail. Mayers was involved in a shooting incident in November 2021, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to reports, the rapper pointed a gun at the victim and fired two shots at them. Although no one was killed, the victim suffered an injury to his left arm, and Mayers fled the scene with two other people. The victim, identified as Terell Ephron, met with Mayers to discuss their differences, which did not happen because Mayers threatened him with a gun. Mayers was charged with assault and battery, and Ephron had to seek medical attention for his injuries.

ASAP Rocky and rapper Casanova were sentenced to prison in 2006 for drug dealing. He was arrested again in July 2012 for his alleged involvement in a fight in midtown Manhattan. In July 2012, Rocky was sued for an attack on an unnamed person, and he was arrested for an attack on two photographers who were taking pictures at the time of the incident. He was charged with misdemeanor assault after allegedly slapping a woman at the Budweiser Made in America festival in August 2013.
