AFC Asian Cup 2023 – format

First held in 1984, the Asian Cup format has also evolved. In the early years, it was a simple tournament where each team played against each other. But as more teams were added to the tournament, a group stage format was introduced. Two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage in the 2023 edition. The final will include the two best teams from the Super Four stage. This year, Nepal qualified as the sixth nation after beating the UAE in the low-goal final of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023. The two teams include Pakistan, India and Nepal in Group A and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Group B. The teams will play a total of 13 ODI matches.

The venue of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup

This year’s Asian Cup was supposed to be hosted by Pakistan. As BCCI, BCB and SLCB disagree on security issues, the venue of the matches is still in doubt. Initially, the PCB proposed a hybrid model for organizing the tournament. Because of this uncertainty, Sri Lanka is the leading candidate to host the Asian Cup.

Now, according to the latest announcement made by ACC, the Asian Cup will be hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. 4 matches will be hosted by Pakistan and (matches will be held in Sri Lanka.

AFC Asian Cup 2023

The Asian Cup is held every two years and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup is scheduled to be held in September before the 2023 World Cup. After much discussion, the Asian Cricket Council has finally announced the date of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. The tournament will be held from August 31, and the final will take place on September 17.

The fifteenth edition of the tournament was held in the United Arab Emirates and won against Sri Lanka, who beat Pakistan by 23 runs in the final.

Consequences of change of location.

The decisions of the BCCI, BCB and SLCB can have some serious impact on the ticketing relationship between the three boards. After BCCI refused to send players to Pakistan, the head of PCB reacted strongly by saying: “After chairing the ACC meeting in which Pakistan was awarded the ACC Asian Cup with strong support and response From the ACC board members, Mr. Shah’s statement on the removal of the ACC Asian Cup was unilaterally made. This is in contrast to the philosophy and spirit with which the Asian Cricket Council was established in September 1983 – a unified Asian cricket body to protect the interests of its members and to organize, develop and promote dominate cricket in Asia.”

Thank @JayShah to present one side @ACCMedia1 2023-24 structure and calendar, especially regarding the 2023 AFC Asian Cup that 🇵🇰 is hosting the event. By the way, could you please introduce the structure and calendar of our PSL 2023! A quick response will be appreciated. https://t.co/UdW2GekAfR
