POP STAR Aston Merrygold has paid tribute to a backup dancer who performed with his group JLS.
The singer, 35, took to social media to share a heartfelt message after singer Jack Pointer Mackenzie tragically passed away at the age of 35.

The talented dancer toured with the pop group throughout their career from 2009 to 2021, after JLS rose to fame on The X Factor.
Aston wrote: “RIP Captain,” with a praying hand and a raised hand emoji.
He added: “Original member of JLS.”
Aston, whose bandmates include Marvin Humes, Ortise Williams and JB Gill, shared another touching post.
The father-of-three shared a video of Jack showing off his incredible dancing skills on stage with the boys from JLS.
He wrote: “Captain Jack always with a vibe from 2009 and beyond!!
“A phenomenal team member!”
Base Dance Studios took to Instagram to share a tribute, alongside a photo of Jack, which read: “A unique gift, who will be greatly missed. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
“Jack Nathaniel Pointer-Mackenzie.”
Jack’s cause of death is currently unknown.
Many fans were quick to post their messages of condolence.
One wrote: “A great loss to the community. Love to my nearest and dearest. Fly High Jack.”
Another posted: “A beautiful dancer, teacher and human being.”
A third added: “Speechless, such a talented and truly wonderful man.”
Jack’s funeral was held on October 2, 2023, according to the tribute page.
Throughout his career, he has worked with a range of A-list stars – including Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello and Hozier.
