Profession
She began studying music at the age of three and made her professional singing debut at the age of 16. While at university, she began working as a hairstylist and make-up artist, specialising in bridal make-up for Asian nationals in the UK. Her debut Hindi single, “Tere Bina”, was released in October 2010 to support victims of domestic violence and to donate proceeds to the Southall Black Sisters Charity. The song was inspired by the real-life story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, whose character was played by Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai in the Hollywood film Provoked (2006).
She has gained great popularity as a singer and has performed live shows in different countries with her entertainment and management company “Eastern Illusion Ltd.”

Some of her hit singles include “Dil Deewana” in 2011 (featuring rapper Blaze Blackheart and classical qawwali singer Balwant Panesar), “Aao Na” in August 2013, “Playboy” (2018) and “Husan Di Rani” (2020). - Initially, she wanted to be a dancer but ended up becoming a singer. Talking about her musical journey, she said in an interview,
I was born into a very musical family who always supported my music and encouraged me to continue in this field. I started learning from a very young age and I even have pictures of me playing keyboards before my first birthday! My first stage performance was a dance when I was 3 years old (although it didn’t go exactly as planned because I decided to run off the stage midway!). I took part in many stage performances throughout my childhood and teenage years, which helped me gain experience and stage confidence over the years.

My weekends are especially busy, I’m on the go and there’s no time to stop! My manager keeps my diary organized which helps a lot, although I do wish there were more hours in the day! But the passion and love for what I do, and the overwhelming support from everyone, is what keeps me going.”
- She is the founder of the beauty brand Faces by Avina and launched her own line of beauty products in 2016.
- In 2020, she broke her knee while skiing in France. Speaking about the difficult days of recovering from the accident, she said:
After the accident, I had a long road to recovery both mentally and physically. There were days when I wondered how I would ever be able to walk, dance and live normally again? I’m not a big fan of exercise, but one thing that really helped me with my recovery was yoga and stretching regularly. This gave me so much hope mentally and helped me physically with my flexibility. By practicing yoga regularly, it has now become a new way of life for me and I highly recommend everyone give it a try! ”
