Baby Capybara Who Went Viral for Dancing Like Michael Jackson Officially Named by Zoo Home

This talented capybara met fame before she even knew her name.

The capybara that moved into the Zoological Wildlife Foundation of Miami (ZWF Miami) on December 24 quickly became a favorite at the Florida zoo after the facility posted a video of the large rodent dancing on Instagram.

In the footage released on January 4, a female capybara wades through a water feature in her habitat walking on her hind legs with her arms outstretched. The animal’s slow-motion walk through the water almost looks like it’s performing the iconic dance from Michael Jackson’s megahit “Thriller,” an observation ZWF Miami noted in its post.

“Our native entertainer does her best #thriller dance impression at morning swim @zwfmiami,” ZWF Miami wrote in the video, which has more than 140 million views and 9 million likes on Instagram.

The zoo also used the viral post to ask its million-plus followers for name ideas for the capybara. After giving animal lovers a few days to submit suggestions, ZWF Miami announced Tuesday that the zoo had settled on the name Eve.

A fan suggested the name, according to a subsequent post on ZWF Miami’s Instagram, because that capybara arrived at the zoo on Christmas Eve.

The founders of ZWF Miami look forward to caring for Eve and watching her bring joy to zoo guests for years to come.

“It’s amazing how little things make such a difference for our guests. Seeing the smiles on the faces of our guests visiting ZWF gives us great pleasure,” zoo founders Maria and Mario Tabraue shared in a statement to PEOPLE. “Our newest addition, Eve, the baby capybara, has become a worldwide sensation. In addition, she has brought a lot of joy and love into our lives that we want to share with our guests.”
