Bachelor Joey Graziadei Wishes He Met Fiancée Kelsey Anderson at a Bar: 'Very Weird Situation'

In the world of modern dating, dating on reality TV may remain one of the more unconventional ways for a couple to hook up.

“We said more than once, we wish we had met in a bar. Like, that would be a more ideal situation,” Bachelor Joey Graziadei said on the June 10 episode of Jason Tartick. Trade secrets podcast by his fiancee Kelsey Anderson. “But we didn’t, and we never would have met if it weren’t for this. For that we are very grateful and now we are just doing our best to get through a very strange situation.”

Anderson, 26, said her dad Mark shares a similar sentiment with her.

“He was like, ‘Y’all would never have met otherwise. Like, I’m so happy for all of you. I’m so glad you did this,’ Anderson told Tartick, 35. “And he said, ‘And you went out with Joey.’ And he said: ‘Today you would never have met, but you seemed amazing together.’ Well, I do not know. That made me very happy.”

Graziadei, 28, said he has since changed his perspective on how he met Anderson.

“There are good things that come out of it,” the tennis pro continued. “So we were just trying to have a good perspective.”

He admitted that the “success rate” for couples Bachelor “he was terrifying” — and served as one of the reasons why he almost didn’t want to be on the show.

“I think I’m smart enough to figure that out, I wonder how I can actually have a very strong relationship if I’m going to be trying to figure out a relationship on TV?” Graziadei said.

Graziadei said he felt like “the luckiest bachelor” because his appearance on the show led him to Anderson. “I have no regrets at all,” he said. “This is the best decision I’ve ever made.”

Anderson realized that she had little chance of ending the season engaged to Graziadei.

“I was literally doing statistics, every week,” said the assistant project manager. “Like, oh, I have this percentage. Like, the chances of them, like, succeeding.”

But the Philadelphia native proposed to her in the season 28 finale, and now they’re looking forward to sharing their lives publicly.

“We don’t want this identity of presence in this show to be our life, but we understand that we have people who, at least now, are familiar with our lives, know who we are and invest, and we want to be able to continue to be who we are and see if we can take something from this,” said Graziadei. “Because as you said earlier, you’d be foolish not to think about all the opportunities that come with it. So I think I’m just thinking about the trajectory. I think I try to make the most of this.”

Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson Share Their Biggest Flaws About Each Other: ‘I Wasn’t A Good Look’

Although both Graziadei and Anderson have taken a step back from the careers they had before going to TV, he said they remain “open to see what comes next.”

“I think it’s more about wanting to make sure we fit in here,” Graziadei continued.

For their next step as a couple, Graziadei and Anderon plan to move to New York together by the end of the year. “We’ve got so much going on right now,” Graziadei said, “but if we’re not living in New York by Christmas, I’d be pretty shocked.”
