Balasore train crash stationmaster arrested
Amir Khan is reportedly a signal JE and used to work for the Soro division. He lived with his family in a rented house that is now sealed. The State Bureau of Investigation questioned Signal JE during an investigation at a private location. The CBI left the crash site in Balasore on June 16 after investigation. After sealing off Amir Khan’s residence, CBI came to Bahanaga Sation Master’s residence located at Tentei Chhak below Soro block to ask further questions about the Balasore train accident. While the CBI has already registered a case regarding the Balasore train accident on Friday 2 June 2023. This case was reportedly registered after the Ministry of Railways and the Odisha government asked the CBI to investigate the case. In addition, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has also ordered the CBI to launch an intensive investigation after the train accident involving the Yashwantpur-Howrah Express, a freight train, and the Coromandel Express at Bahanaga Bazar.
Rinkesh Roy, who is Khordha Road DRM, had earlier suspected that physical tampering or sabotage might be behind the crash. He said: “There was a green signal on the main line. The signal is usually green when all the prerequisites needed for the signal to turn green are perfect. If any of the prerequisites are not met, the signal can never turn green unless and until someone physically tampers with the signal system. But the data records show that when the Coromandel Express was approaching the station, the signal was green but the train went into the curve.”
