Popular is a little word. This is an iconic show. After Ramayana and Mahabharata, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is televised. To me, this is the myth of the day. It felt great to be a part of it, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a role like this and be a part of the longest running sitcom. This feeling still deepens today. I have been acting since last so many years. In 1995 I did a college show called “Campus.”

According to reports, Gurcharan Singh himself suggested Balvinder Singh Suri to take his place in the show. Gurcharan said in an interview,
I met the guy who had replaced me earlier (Laad Singh) and told him that he should do this because he had a very good mission. I remember meeting him at the Ashram (Andheri, Four Bungalows) in Mumbai. Another Sodhi (Balwinder Singh Suri) was someone I recommended to some extent; he had been on the creative team of our show and I suggested he would do it appropriately. To be honest, I haven’t seen enough of the second part to give you a review.But I think there are a few people who still want me to come back
