DC KA Dayananda declared school holidays in Bangalore. All private and government schools must remain closed during the Karnataka Bandha. However, there is no official confirmation of school holidays in Karnataka for the remaining districts.

Bangalore School Holidays: Why is it called Karnataka Bandh?

According to media reports, pro-Kannada organizations led by the Kannada Chaluvali group have called for a bandh on September 29, 2023. The statewide bandh has been declared as a protest against the release of Cauvery water in Tamil Nadu.

Farmers and activists across Karnataka are protesting as the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) ordered the state to release 5,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu over 15 days.

Karnataka Bandh: Is metro available in Bangalore today?

No, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that metro services between Mysore Road and Kengeri stations will remain suspended on Friday i.e. 29 September 2023 due to scheduled inspection work.

The ‘Statutory Safety Inspection’ of the newly established Purple Line extension of Namma Metro (running from Kengri to Challaghatta) will be conducted by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety.

Besides, train services between Baiyyappanahalli and Mysore Road, Whitefield and KR Puram stations along the entire Green Line will remain operational tomorrow.
