‘Barbie’ becomes Warner Bros.’ The biggest film of all time reached $1.34 billion at the worldwide box office
Ahead of the hit movie’s digital debut, Warner Bros. Pictures shared a behind-the-scenes clip exclusively with PEOPLE, in which Gerwig, Robbie, 33, Gosling, 42, and costume designer Jacqueline Durran discuss the process behind the costumes for the film.
“I think the No. 1 rule of Barbie Earth is to always have the right clothes,” says Gerwig, while Durran adds, “It’s quite difficult to know how to approach that because the character is Barbie, and Barbie can be anything. She can represent any person, any any profession, anything.”

“Especially in this movie, the costumes are everything,” Gosling says in the clip. “Unless you’re dressed for it, you don’t do it. A meme has just been posted that says ‘Barbie costume designer deserves a free pass to heaven.’ I agree.”
