Barbra Streisand Details the First Thing She Said to Husband James Brolin When She Met Him

Barbra Streisand didn’t hold back her true feelings when she first met James Brolin.

In the new cover with vanity fair for the November issue, which hits newsstands Oct. 17, the singer and actress, 81, recalled the first time she met Brolin, 83, and what she said to him when they first got together.

According to the publication, Streisand asked her now-husband, “Who… did your hair?” during their inaugural meeting, as he had just shaved his head for the role.

vanity fair she noted, however, that Brolin was not offended by her question and the pair spent the rest of the evening in each other’s company.

Streisand and Brolin first met at a dinner with mutual friends, including Streisand’s ex-boyfriend Jon Peters.

“We set up a blind date, and I was so shy that I went into the house and went downstairs to be with the kids and play with them until I had to sit at the table,” Streisand said in a 2021 appearance on Tonight’s show.

She also criticized Brolin’s hair in detail during that appearance, telling host Jimmy Fallon, “I was expecting a guy with a brown beard and brown, wavy hair, like a mountain man.”

“And I saw a guy who had all his hair cut off, no beard. I walked past him. I put my hand through his hair and said, ‘Who… put your hair up?’ ” she continued.

The couple, who each have children from previous marriages, married two years later in a ceremony in the backyard of Streisand’s home in Malibu, California.

“I can’t tell you how lucky I am that this happened to me so late in life,” Brolin said in his wedding speech. “Every night is a new adventure. Sleeping is a waste of time. I can’t wait to see her again in the morning.”

Over the years, Streisand and Brolin have supported each other at various awards shows and movie premieres.

“By the way, 20 years in Hollywood is like 50 years in Chicago, I always say,” Streisand said of her marriage in a 2016 interview with Mario Lopez. Extra TV.
