Barnabas Varga injury LIVE: Hungary head coach gives health update after forward was involved in collision vs Scotland

Csoboth pays homage to Varga

The BBC has just announced that a statement from the Hungarian camp reveals that Barnabas Varga is conscious and stable in hospital in Stuttgart.

The forward was stretchered off in the second half amid worrying scenes after a collision inside the Scotland box.

The Hungarian players then formed a human shield around the stricken striker, and then quickly paid tribute to him after Kevin Csoboth’s goal deep in stoppage time.

The battered Scots collapse

Stoppage time goals in both games tonight mean Germany will win Group A and Scotland will be eliminated by finishing bottom.

Undefeated Switzerland follows the Germans in second place with five points, while Hungary now has a nervous wait to see if three points will be enough for them to advance to third place.

End – Scotland 0-1 Hungary

Scotland is defeated. Scotland are out. Scotland is heartbroken.

The final whistle blew for the summer in Scotland and they came up short.

Horribly beaten in the dying seconds, Steve Clarke’s side finished bottom of Group A behind Germany, Switzerland and tonight’s winners Hungary.

Everything could have been different had Stuart Armstrong been awarded a penalty in the second half, but in the end the toothless Scots canceled out a devastating counter attack.

90+10. Scotland lose him right at the death!

As the seconds tick by, the Scots win a corner and know it’s their last chance.

A kick from the left falls into space at the feet of Callum McGregor, who comes up with a shot that is magnificently blocked.

And then suddenly Hungary is away.

A brilliant ball from Dominik Szoboszlai straight to Rollan Sallio – who looks offside – was taken on the line and then pulled back nicely for substitute Kevin Csoboth to tap in to score.

Wild celebration at one end. Sadness and despair in the other.

90+8. Hanley with a chance to win it! Saved by Gulacsi!

Was that the moment? That was the moment!
