Career
His first meeting in front of the camera, so young, was in the 1980s, when he appeared in a commercial for ‘Jell-O’, with actor Bill Cosby. After that, he had a small role as Jimmy Kid in the television series The Incredible Hulk. He later starred in the film ‘The Circle Family’ in 1982, followed by another film ‘Jekyll and Hyde… Back Together’ in the same year.
Barret was chosen from among 200 young people who applied to audition for the film version of the best-selling book ‘The Neverending Story’. After that, there was no turning back and to date he has collected more than 20 film roles. Some of his most notable films include Knight Rider in 1982, the 1984 American fantasy drama TV series Highway to Heaven and DARYL, The Twilight Zone, The Neverending Story and The Circle Family, among others.
He retired from acting in 1989 to pursue a career as a photographer and printer. He specialized in nineteenth-century photographic methods such as collodion and Woodburytype. Furthermore, his paintings have been shown in museums and gallery exhibitions, as well as in films. Oliver is also the author of A History of the Woodburytype, published in 2007 by Carl Mautz Publishing.
