BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty was noticeably absent from the couch on Friday, her second absence this week. While the 48-year-old usually hosts the hit series alongside her co-star Charlie Stayt, Naga has been replaced by journalist Sarah Campbell. The royal correspondent has replaced the star, hosting BBC Breakfast on Thursdays and now on Fridays.

Naga, who also hosts her own news program for BBC Radio 5, was absent from the Tuesday and Wednesday shows, resulting in Adrian Chiles reporting. The presenter’s absence from television and radio appearances remained unexplained, and Naga also refrained from posting on social media.
However, according to the BBC Radio 5 website, Naga is expected to host his show on Monday, September 11, so it is more than likely that he will be taking a short break rather than an extended leave.

Naga’s break comes just days after the star hit back at a viewer who criticized her outfit on BBC’s Breakfast.
After Saturday’s episode, in which Naga donned a black silk dress, one viewer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “@BBCBreakfast What’s @TVNaga01 wearing?? Looks like she came straight to work from a night out at a sleazy singles nightclub… ”

Addressing user X directly, Naga promptly responded wittily, writing: “Sssssh… don’t tell anyone. (btw – it’s called a dress).” After the interaction, User X ended up deleting the original tweet.
Arousing a reaction from her followers, many rallied around Naga. “I’ve been watching BBC Breakfast for the last 30 minutes and didn’t notice what the presenters were wearing. I was too busy listening to what they were saying,” replied one.

“What is it with people that they have to criticize what people wear? Are they so insecure about how they dress that they have to berate others? Naga, you have great taste in clothes, I wish I was that stylish,” added another.
Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Best journalist in the morning interviewing with an emphasis on transparency and informing the public! Well presented in every way – the male presenters never seem to have comments on their dressing? Umm…”

As of this week, Naga isn’t the only presenter missing from BBC Breakfast. Sally Nugent, who appears in the first half of the week alongside Jon Kay, was absent from the program on Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile, Jon was away from the red sofa on Monday, leaving Sally to host the show with Ben Thompson.

Although Sally didn’t address her absence from Wednesday’s show either, it’s possible she was lying after a late night at the National Television Awards on Tuesday. The 52-year-old attended the prestigious awards with former rugby player Rob Burrow, who was nominated for his documentary, Rob Burrow – Living with MND.
Both Sally and BBC Breakfast have followed Rob’s story closely since he was first diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in December 2019.
