The revelations come as bosses prepare to release the findings of a three-month investigation into claims of bullying by actress Amanda and other celebrities in the hit series.
A source said: “The investigative team considered whether it was offensive to Amanda.
“The BBC cannot ignore the fact that the video was sent. There seems to be a trail of evidence.
“Even if the footage is found to have been shared with innocent intentions, the BBC is concerned that this could constitute a breach of contract conduct given to the dancers.”
Amanda, 50, and Giovanni, 33, are understood to have come under fire from investigators this month over her claims he made a crude comment about a member of her family.
A source said: “Amanda was actually asked if Gio meant the comments as lighthearted banter.
“She found this way of questioning very offensive.”
Giovanni, who left the show in May after nine years, has denied any wrongdoing.
Last month we revealed fellow Strictly pro Graziano Di Prima, 30, had been sacked by the BBC after it emerged he dumped celebrity partner Zara McDermott last year.
Amanda told The Sun on Sunday last month that she had received death threats after speaking out.

The BBC declined to comment.
