The 57-year-old veteran host took to social media to announce his imminent departure.

Originally from Australia, Aaron has been the BBC’s business news presenter since 2002 and has been featured on all their television channels.

Aaron began his journalism career as a reporter for Prime Television/Seven Network in Sydney and Canberra.

He took to X – formerly Twitter – to share the news of his farewell, writing: “I think it’s time to share something with you.

“This week will be my last show on the BBC.

“After 30 years in TV news and 22.5 of those at the BBC, it’s time to close this chapter!

“For those who have enjoyed my shows over the years, I say THANK YOU.

“It was an honor and a privilege.”

Longtime viewers soon flooded the comments section to wish Aaron the best, with one writing: “Star quality; and we the viewers enjoyed every minute.

BBC departures and returns

In the following post, Aaron expressed his gratitude to those who reached out after his announcement.

He said: “With tears in my eyes and a hand on my heart – I did not (at all) expect such an outpouring of love and gratitude!

“You know, you just do your job day in and day out and you never really realize that it affects people.

“So, I can’t thank you enough. I’ll still be here on X, so stick with me.”
