GARY LINEKER forced BBC Sport into an embarrassing twist as they deleted Wayne Rooney’s bizarre post.
The former England captain was sacked as Birmingham City boss this morning following a poor run of form since replacing John Eustace in October.

Rooney oversaw just two wins in 15 games as the Blues fell from sixth to 20th in the Championship.
And after the news of his sacking was announced this morning, BBC Sport posted a strange tweet.
The official account tweeted: “At the behest of Peaky Blinders, Wayne Rooney has been sacked by Birmingham City.”
The post was accompanied by a fake photo of Rooney in a flat cap and suit – in full Tommy Shelby style.
But the Match of the Day host was not happy with the way his employers broke the news.
Lineker replied: “Delete this.”
And his bosses immediately obeyed as the tweet was soon removed as it disappeared from their timeline.
But before they covered their tracks, many fans took notice of the Beeb’s tweet.

One said: “If you missed the now deleted BBC Sport Peaky Blinders/Wayne Rooney tweet then you’re having a better New Year than us.”
Another joked: “Quick guys, how can we link Peaky blinders to Rooney’s sacking? How about …”
And a third commented: “Let’s say it’s even possible that Peaky Blinders gave the order to fire Wayne Rooney, then why did you portray Mr. Rooney as Peaky Blinders lol.”
The news of Rooney’s sacking was confirmed at 11am when Birmingham issued a statement.
However, moments later the former Manchester United striker shared his own response.
In it, he appeared to take a swipe at Tom Brady and the owners of St Andrew’s implying that he deserved more time at work to turn things around.

BBC Sport announced the sacking of Wayne Rooney with a strange post about Peaky Blinders
Rooney said: “I would like to thank Tom Wagner, Tom Brady and Garry Cook for the opportunity to manage Birmingham City FC and the support they have all given me during my short time at the club.
“Football is a business with results – and I understand that they were not at the level I wanted them to be.
“However, time is the most precious commodity a manager needs and I don’t believe 13 weeks was enough to oversee the changes that were needed.
“I personally will need some time to overcome this failure. I have been involved in professional football, either as a player or as a manager, since I was 16 years old.
“I now plan to take some time with my family as I prepare for the next opportunity in my managerial journey.”
Steve Cooper is the early favorite to replace Rooney at Birmingham following his Nottingham Forest axing.
The Welshman has a 6-4 record with Sky Bet with Tony Mowbray (3-1), Gary Rowett (4-1), Jesse Marsch and Eustace (both 6-1).
As for Rooney, meanwhile, he is ready to take a break from football before pursuing a managerial career.
The former DC United and Derby boss, however, could have a variety of options when he returns – with the EFL, Inter Miami and Saudi Arabia among possible next steps.
