The BBC star revealed that they had left the Emitter after a whopping 38 years on the screen.
The star was overwhelmed by support because he revealed that his career at Beeb had ended after almost four decades on the emitter.

Paul Clifton headed to social media to share the news, confirming that his last day is today.
He said, “A great moment for me: after 38 years, my last day on the BBC.
“I spent more than half of my life as a carriage correspondent and rarely felt like I was working.
“He traveled the world, won awards, worked with the best in business, met amazing people.
“But now I’m going.”
More recently, Paul has been a correspondent for a newspaper channel in the south of the country.
He joined the emitter in the late 1980s.
Overwhelming him with good wishes, one follower told him, “End of era! Thank you, Paul. Enjoy your last day in business.”
The other wrote, “It’s the end of the Paul era! Thank you for covering transportation in such a professional and objective way. You are a class act.”
The BBC viewers were shocked while Clive Myrie’s eyes were ‘droops’ during the news at six and asked ‘Is he okay?’
“Congratulations, Paul. I hope you have a beautiful, energetic and long retirement. It has always been a pleasure to work with you on the difficult cases you have highlighted. It’s a pleasure to meet you,” said the third.
While the fourth commented, “All the best Paul! I always enjoyed my reports in the south, don’t hear you so much that I live in Points West Land now, but I still catch your reports as I am aware of them.”
