Below Deck’s Aesha on Her Shippable ‘Chemistry’ with Captain Jason — Who’s ‘Still Struggling’ with His Contacts (Exclusive)

It’s no secret that fans ship Below deckCaptain Jason Chambers and Aesha Scott.

The captain and chef steward opened up to PEOPLE at BravoCon 2023 about their on-screen spark and why they keep things platonic.

“People love us together and I understand that because we have a lot of chemistry – but it’s like brother and sister chemistry,” Scott, 32, said.

Chambers, 50, agreed: “It would feel a bit weird.”

During Sunday Below deck crew at the convention, Scott opened up about why the pair bond: “I verbalize everything he thinks. We both have the dirty minds of a 12-year-old boy.”

But, crossover Winter house star reiterated that she views her boss “as a brother”, adding: “I don’t see my panties falling off.”

The Bravo star – who has been in a long-term relationship with another Australian: Scotty Dobson – also clarified that there is “absolutely” nothing going on between her and Chambers. “I can tell you I was never attracted to him,” she said. “It was platonic from the beginning.”

During the second season Below deckScott famously got close to Chambers while helping him put in his contact lenses — a gesture many fans found quite intimate.

And though both Bravo stars deny the allegations, Chambers admitted to PEOPLE that his challenges with contacts are still very real and that he “still struggles” with the day-to-day task.

Scott noted, “I’ve actually seen him with glasses most of the time since we’ve been filming him, so he hasn’t learned anything.”

She added on the Luck Be a Bravo Lady panel on Sunday: “Every time I’ve seen him, he’s only got one because he still can’t get his left eye.”

Scott previously reached out to help with his contact lenses in the episode Watch what’s happening live in July.

When asked about Chambers’ most disgusting habits, she replied: “Well, I don’t know if it’s disgusting, but I think everyone can see that he’s a grown man and he doesn’t know how to put contacts in. So maybe we can work on our own growth?”

That same month, she opened up about her relationship with Chambers in an interview with Daily dishsaying, “He is my captain, but also my friend.”

“He supports me a lot. She always washes my dishes and empties the bins,” she added. “I go up there in the morning and put his contacts in. We’re just a real support unit.”
