How much did Bernhard Langer earn today?

By winning the US Senior Open at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, on Sunday, Bernhard Langer broke the record for most PGA Tour Champions wins.

The 65-year-old German broke a tie with fellow Hall of Famer Hale Irwin by shooting a 70-under-par in the final round to claim his 46th win.

The oldest winner in the 50+ age group is now 65 years, 10 months, and 5 days. Langer added: “I have my mother who is turning 100 on August 4, so I think I have good genes.” I hope to live a few more years.

Despite bogeying the last three tree holes and the back nine of the course, Langer beat Steve Stricker by two shots despite holding a seven-shot lead on the back nine.

I never imagined it would happen at the US Senior Open, but I’m delighted that the record 46 win happened this week, according to Langer. It’s certainly one of the best competitions we’ve ever been to, and to win this course, where everyone was there, especially Stricker and (Jerry) Kelly on their home course, is a unique experience.

Only eight players broke even during the week, including Langer, who finished with a seven-under-par 277.

At 57 years, 11 months, and 14 days, Langer broke Allen Doyle’s age tournament record set in 2006 at SentryWorld. “He hurts a lot more than ten years ago,” Langer said. The game is still fun for me. I’ll keep playing if I keep playing like last week. From time to time he would ask me: “What were you doing here? “Go home and spend time with your grandchildren.”

By winning the 2010 US Senior Open in Sahalee, just north of Seattle, Langer increased his total number of senior senior wins to 12.

Stricker, a native of Madison, Wisconsin, finished with a 69 after making birdies on three of the last five holes. Stricker said of Langer: “He gives all of us here hope that we can continue to play as well as he has for as long as he has.” He is pretty amazing. He wasn’t going to retire today, he knew it.

In the final round, Langer had a two-shot lead over Kelly and birdied the first two holes in a row. With a bogey in between, Langer birdied holes 5 and 7. He opened the last nine holes with a birdie on 10, then parried the next five holes before finishing with three bogeys.
