Though Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 didn’t win all the viewers over, there were still several memorable moments to come out of the season. Deckhand Mzi Dempers and Captain Sandy Yawn were the only returning cast members, and fans were unsure of what to expect from the rest of the crew. They did manage to bring the drama, but some of the onboard relationships and the fighting between crews fell flat for fans.
Viewers slammed Below Deck Med season 7 for its manufactured drama. Unlike other seasons that also had several over-the-top demanding charter guests, this season seemed rather tame in comparison. There were still some moments that had fans hooked, like watching as everything crashed to the ground when the megayacht’s stabilizers stopped working. It also featured a turbulent romance between the chief stew and chef that went horribly, as most boatmances do.
Below Deck Med Season 7’s Dramatic Exits
Below Deck Med season 7 had not one but three people leave the yacht over the course of the charter season. The first to go was bosun Raygan Tyler, who seemed in over her head from the moment she got onboard. Raygan, whose been compared to Chef Mila, struggled to make schedules for her deck crew and could not call out the meters properly, which led to Captain Sandy hitting something with the boat for the first time in her career. Next to go was deckhand Jason Gaskell, who quit because he didn’t mesh with anyone else on the team. Last to leave was steward Kyle Viljoen after he fell down a flight of stairs and hurt his ankle. Each of these exits left fans shocked, and many viewers were happy to see them leave.
Kyle Viljoen’s Charter Guest Romance
One of the most talked about moments on Below Deck Med was Kyle’s romance with Below Deck Med charter guest Frank Fay. There had been some light flirting between guests and crew in past seasons of the show, but this was the sweetest forbidden romance. Fans loved watching Frank and Kyle get to spend time together outside the yacht during the crew night out, with a sweet kiss between them at the end of the episode.
Natalya Scudder & Natasha Webb Get Along Without Kyle Viljoen
Despite calling themselves twins at the beginning of Below Deck Mediterranean season 7, Natalya Scudder and Natasha Webb were not close for most of the season. Kyle and Natasha were always leaving Natalya out and giving her the grunt work, but when Kyle left because of his injury, they got along great. Many viewers liked seeing their relationship more than Natasha and Kyle’s, who have been called lazy, as Natasha and Kyle were often described as “mean girls.” Fans felt like Natasha and Natalya would have been great friends if Kyle didn’t spend the entire season getting between them.
