Bill Hader is counting his blessings.
On Tuesday, January 15, at Barry The alum, 46, revealed that his home in Pacific Palisades is still standing, despite sustaining some damage amid the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
“People keep saying ‘unreal’ … it doesn’t seem real,” he told KTLA 5 of the fire’s devastation in his neighborhood. “I’m sorry, I’m in shock. It’s just gone. Everything. Alphabet Street, which to me is kind of the heart of the Palisades, this beautiful, beautiful area is gone. The whole thing is gone.”
When he received the evacuation notice, Hader said he was at work and rushed back to make sure his home and family were safe.

“I got a video showing the fire and I rushed back, but by the time I got back, [traffic] was at a standstill,” he recalled. “I’m glad my family came out. I feel like this is such a great community. I’m really speechless.”
“I mean, this happened so crazy fast … it’s kind of mind-boggling how fast it’s happening. So I just hope everyone’s safe. That’s all you can hope for right now,” he added.

Hader also addressed other Los Angeles residents near the ongoing wildfires around the city and urged people to evacuate while they can.
“If you get an evacuation notice, just leave,” he said. “I know people who said ‘Well, wait and see’ and things like ‘I’m in the yellow zone’ or whatever. This thing, when it turned red, you couldn’t get out.”
“Don’t listen to your friends who tell you, ‘Ah, you’re a little crazy.’ Just get out,” he added.
The fires that broke out on Tuesday, January 7, spread quickly in different parts of the city, and information about the extent of the destruction and when the fires will be contained is still not available. The disaster left tens of thousands of Los Angeles residents displaced after they evacuated their homes.

Since then, Hader has been providing his services to spread fire awareness. On Thursday, January 10, the comedian reached out to the ABC7 crew in Los Angeles with an offer to help.
In a tweet shared with X, ABC7 reporter Josh Haskell revealed that he and his crew were in shock when Hader approached them in Pacific Palisades.
“A moment only in LA Thursday at the #PalisadesFire roadblock,” Haskell wrote alongside a photo of Hader wearing a mask and holding a peace sign. “The resident who was trying to gain access came up to the press van as if he was part of our team, wanted to help cover, ride with us.”
“Then he took off his mask, smiled and it was Bill Hader! It couldn’t have been cuter!” he added.
